General FAQ

What conditions are CBD used for?

Project CBD has compiled hundreds of peer-reviewed studies in scientific journals, many from PubMed, a service of the US Library of Medicine. Click here to see the complete list

Can I take the tincture sublingually?

Our traditional tincture is over 90% alcohol, so it will burn mucous membranes if undiluted. We suggest diluting it into juice, tea, water, or another beverage, and drinking it. You may hold a diluted tincture solution under your tongue for sublingual absorption, if there is no burning sensation.

Our MCT oil tincture can be taken sublingually for faster absorption.

What is the best product for my particular condition?

We are not permitted to prescribe products for specific conditions, or to make medical claims about our products. Please consult your health care professional for medical advice.

Using Our Products

Can CBD levels be manipulated during growing or processing?

Contrary to some rumors, a plant cannot be made CBD-rich if it lacks the right genetic make-up. The ratio of THC, CBD, and other cannabinoids is genetically determined, according to a study by biochemist Etienne de Meijer, Inheritance of the Cannabinoid Phenotype. A grower can, however, influence overall cannabinoid content by manipulating environmental factors—temperature, light, water acidity, and nutrients—that affect plant health. © Project CBD

Is there THC in your hemp CBD items? Will I pass a drug test if I take a hemp product?

We are not legally able to make any recommendations or guarantees regarding drug tests on hemp derived products. Industry knowledge suggests that the small amount of THC (less than 0.3%) that is present in all hemp CBD products can reflect on a drug test depending on the specific test and an individual consumer’s lifestyle factors.

Why is whole plant extraction important when choosing a CBD product?

groundbreaking study from Israel has documented the superior therapeutic properties of whole plant CBD-rich cannabis extract as compared to single-molecule cannabidiol (CBD).

Published in the journal Pharmacology & Pharmacy (Feb. 2015), the article directly challenges one of the sacred cows of Big Pharma and the medical-industrial complex—the notion that “crude” botanical preparations are inherently low grade and less effective than pure, single-molecule compounds. Are your products organic?

All of our plant materials are grown to organic standards, and we use certified organic cane alcohol for extraction and in our tinctures. That’s why we state all of our cultivation practices in writing, and why we encourage consumers to know their sources, so they can be sure their purveyors meet their standards.

What is the difference between hemp CBD and cannabis CBD?

There is no scientific or effectual difference between our hemp and cannabis based CBD products; the distinction is a legal one. We grow many of the same varietals in our hemp and cannabis fields. If the field is licensed by the OLCC, it is cannabis. If it is licensed by the ODA, and the plants average 0.3% THC or less, it is hemp. Per federal law, we are able to sell industrial hemp derived products, outside of the regulated cannabis system, and to all 50 states in the US.
