With our participation in the new hemp program with the Oregon Department of Agriculture, we’re able to farm and formulate our famous CBD product line in a new format, with lower costs, and the ability to serve a larger customer base. This wonderful opportunity is one we’re very grateful for, as we’re now providing lower cost CBD products to customers all over the country, available on our website and in-store at locations here in Oregon and elsewhere.
One thing to remember: All hemp is not created equally. We’ve heard questions about whether hemp CBD is as effective as cannabis derived CBD. The answer is…it depends on what kind of hemp it is, how it was grown, and how it was extracted. At Siskiyou Sungrown, we have been breeding CBD cannabis varietals for many years. In fact, some of our classic CBD cannabis strains are actually low in enough in THC to be considered a hemp strain.
The only distinction between cannabis and hemp, from a regulatory perspective, is the amount of THC present in the plant (must be below .3%). Therefore we’ve been able to bring our proprietary CBD strains over into our hemp field, and bring them to market under our Hemp line. Nearly identical to the CBD products that we’ve been selling for years, our Hemp CBD line is now available for online purchase to customers nationwide.
We are currently offering two items in our Hemp Products line: CBD Tincture and CBD Concentrate Capsules. All of our hemp products are produced the same way as our cannabis, with organic alcohol extraction, producing full spectrum ethanol concentrates. Our Hemp CBD Tincture is the same great product that consumers find in our CBD Cannabis Tincture, only it’s grown and produced under the hemp program. Our CBD Hemp Capsules are a revolutionary step for our company, as we’ve finally been able to take the full spectrum ethanol concentrate that we’re famous for, and standardize the servings. We now have a proprietary process that binds our full spectrum oil to edible plant fiber, and then standardized servings into a 25mg capsule.
Whether you’re looking for CBD from hemp or cannabis, see below for a few things you should always keep in mind.
3 things to look for in a CBD product
#1- Know where it came from: Lots of hemp and cannabis is grown in dirty soil, with dirty methods. Many of the hemp products on the market today are from China, and can have high levels of contaminants and heavy metals. Our hemp and cannabis is all grown here in Southern Oregon following organic standards.
#2- Full spectrum extraction processes: Many of the hemp and cannabis items on the market today are highly refined isolate and distillate products, which leaves out the broad spectrum of plant constituents found in our full spectrum products. Think Wonder Bread vs Whole Wheat bread when you consider the differences. One is highly refined and singularly focused, and the other is whole, complete, and as nature intended it.
#3- 3rd party analytical testing: Most CBD products nationwide have not undergone rigorous third party testing for potency and purity. Studies have shown a wide variance in actual CBD potency in products, and often they’re contaminated with harmful pesticides. Our CBD products are tested by ORLAP Accredited GreenLeaf Labs to ensure exact potency and perfect purity in everything we make.
