May 17, 2018

THESE ARE IMPORTANT TIMES
IN THE EVOLUTION OF OUR INDUSTRY.

It matters who’s driving the bus.

And it matters who is giving the bus driver directions.

We are excited to announce that Siskiyou Sungrown CEO Cedar Grey has been nominated to Governor Kate Brown’s newly formed Oregon Cannabis Commission. Created in accordance with Oregon Health Authority and HB2198, the commission will determine a possible framework for the future governance of the Oregon Medical Marijuana Program (OMMP).

Topics within the commission’s purview include public health and safety policy; agronomic and horticultural best practices; and medical and pharmacopoeia best practices. If approved by the state senate, Grey would act as one of 8 commissioners, and will be the only designated cannabis producer on the panel.

“I am deeply appreciative of the service of all of these candidates, who are dedicated to providing their invaluable expertise on so many issues," said Governor Brown.

A highly-regarded pioneer of the cannabis community, Grey already serves on the primary OLCC Recreational Marijuana Rules Advisory Committee, the Josephine County Cannabis Advisory Panel, and is a founder and past president of Oregon Sungrown Growers’ Guild.

"In this critical period of rapid evolution in the cannabis industry, I am honored by the opportunity to help strengthen Oregon’s support of medical cannabis policies, research, and safe access," he says.

Congratulations to all of the nominees. And thank you for shepherding in new policies to strengthen safe access to cannabis medicine for all who seek it!

In extreme heat conditions, hemp leaves droop and fold up in a protective measure. If the stress is not mediated, they will yellow and become crisp. Once a plant is matured, there’s not a lot of changes growers can make, warns Cedar Grey, founder of Siskiyou Sungrown, a CBD wellness product brand in Southern Oregon.

Many brands are marketed as full spectrum without understanding the meaning of full spectrum hemp because it’s become a trendy buzzword in the industry. Like the term “all natural,” consumers have the idea that full spectrum CBD is a good thing, and they are correct. However, most of these claims are misleading, because the average cannabis/hemp product marketed as full spectrum lacks crucial and beneficial classes of phytochemicals (phyto- means derived from plants).
