Due to the popularity of traditional RSO-style products and the amazing benefits that people receive from them, many products that appear similar have entered the market, leading to some confusion about what RSO and FECO are.
As you know, “RSO” is an acronym for Rick Simpson Oil, and is the term that most people use to describe the viscous, decarboxylated, resinous oil extracted with alcohol. Anecdotal evidence suggests that ethanol extracted oils have the greatest efficacy, and Siskiyou Sungrown uses only USP grade, certified organic cane alcohol to extract resin. While RSO-style concentrates can be extracted with a variety of alcohols, the key is that they use an alcohol as the solvent, which is considered to extract the ideal beneficial spectrum of plant constituents for the fullest entourage effect. Alcohol has been used to tincture herbs for over 5000 years, while CO2 and other modern solvents have a comparatively minuscule track record.
Many companies who do not make an alcohol concentrate are trying to market their products as ‘RSO’ concentrates. This term is not governed by the OLCC, allowing companies to call their products whatever they want.
We’re seeing many CO2 extracts being touted as cannabis RSO, or sometimes FECO, in an attempt to piggyback on the success of true RSO-style concentrates. To be clear — we know of nothing unhealthy about CO2 extracts, and cannabis is beneficial in many forms. But like apples and oranges, they aren't the same, and it's important to make the distinction.
If you're ever in doubt, just ask! How was this product made? Is it a decarboxylated alcohol concentrate?
Siskiyou Sungrown provides the purest ethanol concentrate in our classic oil, tincture, and now in standardized serving pharmaceutical grade softgels.
Extracted with organic alcohol, fully decarboxylated, and with the broadest spectrum of cannabis goodness -- Each and Every Time

In extreme heat conditions, hemp leaves droop and fold up in a protective measure. If the stress is not mediated, they will yellow and become crisp. Once a plant is matured, there’s not a lot of changes growers can make, warns Cedar Grey, founder of Siskiyou Sungrown, a CBD wellness product brand in Southern Oregon.
